Event Code CPD 22/014
Event type Course
Event categories N/A
Event Summary After a brief review of the research demonstrating the link between oral language and educational attainment we will explore a range of strategies and ideas for developing language skills within the learning environment.
Event description We know that, for many young children, the recent lockdowns had a detrimental impact on the development of their oral language and vocabulary skills. It is therefore more important than ever that we do all we can to develop these skills within the EYFS/KS1 learning environment.

Drawing on the language comprehension section of The Reading Framework: Guidance for Teaching (DfE July 2021), and a variety of other sources, we will explore examples of good practice in this area. We will also share a range of practical ideas and strategies for introducing new vocabulary, encouraging talk within the classroom and ensuring that oral language is given the attention it deserves.
